The 10 days from the Feast of Trumpets to Yom Kippur are called the “Days of Awe.” The Lord is calling the Church to sanctify a fast and pray, to earnestly seek His face like we have never done before, to set aside our agenda and plans and separate ourselves unto the Lord. This is considered a consecrated period of time, when we reflect on our walk with God and the condition of our hearts to prepare us, His Bride, for His glorious return. These are days of fasting, praying and:

SOUL SEARCHING 

asking the Holy Spirit to search our hearts if there be any remaining unconfessed sins of the past year to rectify during the 10-day period. Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

TRUE REPENTANCE 

asking for God’s forgiveness and grace upon you to make a 180-degree turn and rectify or not commit the same sin again;

APPEAL BEFORE GOD TO AVERT JUDGMENT FOR OUR SINS AND THE SINS OF THE NATION 

During the 10 days from Feast of Trumpets to Yom Kippur, one can appeal for God’s mercy to change what has been decreed for us in the new year so that what we will only experience is God’s goodness and blessings for the new year. As we appeal, God will surely forgive our sins by the blood of the Lord Jesus shed on the cross for us (1Jn. 1:9). If not appealed during the 10-day period, there will be no more chance to appeal for the entire year.

On Yom Kippur Day or the Day of Atonement, judgment is passed and sealed for the next year of your life. Yum Kippur is the day that God places a seal upon the divine decrees affecting each person for the coming New Year. It is a very, very solemn day. They call it the high, holy day or holy festival. Whatever is not repented for, the consequences will go on to the next year - very serious indeed.

The Day of Atonement speaks of SANCTIFICATION, a lifestyle in which our flesh comes into alignment with our spirit, rather than the other way around. It calls the Bride to a life of discipline and purpose, in which we understand the seriousness of our sins and what they cost the Lord. We are required to love Him more than we love our own flesh and pleasures. The sanctified life is a life dedicated to serving the Lord, not one filled with our own agenda, entertainment, and ambitions. To deny ourselves might even mean moving to another country and being martyred there. The higher the calling, the higher the price one must pay.

THIS IS ACTUALLY A REHEARSAL AND PREPARATION FOR THE SECOND COMING OF THE LORD JESUS AS HIS BRIDE who has made herself ready (Rev. 19:7) and made herself spotless by the grace of God (Eph. 5:27). It will be too late to rehearse, to clean up our lives when the Lord Jesus finally returns for His Bride, no more time to trim our lamps and buy extra oil just like the 5 Foolish Virgins. Our clothing must be clean and ready for the appointed day when the last trumpet sounds, the Bridegroom is announced, and the door to the wedding banquet is closed. (Matt. 24:30-31,43-44,25:6-10, Rev. 19:7)

If the people of God do this, the Spirit of the Lord will come to reveal the shortcomings in our midst, bringing us into a state of repentance and preparing us for a mighty visitation from the Living God. The glory of God will rise upon us like the Sun of Righteousness.
